You made that obvious above. There is a measurable difference between
not knowing how to use a program and not really being up for learning

As to WinMX connection type, you're seriously better off looking off
this NG to any of the several FAQ or help sites inexplicably run by
winmx users. You'll need to look at those sites (and it doesn't take
all that long) to get an idea of how winmx works. The quick and easy
answers only work for those who know how the rest of the system works.
Any quick answer will involve specs of winmx which nobody knows about
just picking up the program. Your reply proves that point - I gave you
quick and easy answers above, and you're still stumped.

Why do you think that anybody here knows how good WinMX used to run on
your PC? That's a big guess on your part regardless of how well you
think you've run it. And when you baldly reply that you're not an
expert, it's only reasonable to assume that you've barely run it at
all. It's not only that you're asking for help, but you're asking this
NG to do everything for you - find out the basics of winmx. But
typical for posts like yours, you think that WinMX divides the world
between newbies who don't have to learn how to use WinMX to DL so much
as an MP3, and experts who must walk them through the entire program.
Just how do you think the experts got to be that way using a program
that comes with no instruction manual or has no links to a help-page?
Apparently, that matters little to those who can't even be bothered to
google words like "can't" and "download" within a NG that you've proven
capable of finding on your own.
You want a confession? I'm not an expert on winmx - I don't reply to
every post because some people ask questions that I have no answer for.
But not too infrequently, the answer is one well within basic
understanding of winmx: you're leeching, or acting like a leech, or
it's a bad ISP, or you've failed to disable your firewall, or you're
setting your queue-limiter too low (on WPN) or you're simply being too
impatient and you're imagining a problem where there really isn't any.
I offer these solutions to new users who at least provided specifics
about their problem and their settings, and not infrequently, the
problems cleared up. I got to that point because I knew there was a
difference between being unfamiliar with a program and just being lazy
and saying:

"it" meaning an expansive explanation for how winmx works, one you'll
probably be too frustrated to read.

It is a forum on winmx, much as other forums imply a working knowledge
of the subjects they cover. Nobody goes onto
rec.aviation.simulators.flight asking for a basic tutorial on fs2004.
Yet on this NG, that behavior seems entirely acceptable to about 3 or 4
newbie users every week.

Really, somebody nice? winmx peer network, afs=10; aeq=100.
Connection, secondary unless you've got a stable connection; keep your
share folder full of complete files of type you're planning to DL.
Wow, I am nice. And you're still lazy.
