Open Nap mode still (as of 3AM PDT) works. Had to figure out how to
use it. So you select the open nap mode under networks in winmx. Then
you need to import a .wsx file. What the hell is that you ask. It's a
list of servers that know where to find stuff. Great, now how do I
find that out? There's a program called NapMX that finds these and
creates the wsx file winmx wants to inport. Download napmx from
http://speed47.chez.tiscali.fr/napmx/index.php
Click on the red "download" word on the upper right of the page.
Select v3.0 beta 3. Then install it. If WinXP barfs (something about a
missing "mswinsck.ocx" file, go to
<http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/support_dll.phtml?dllname=MSWINSCK.OCX>
and follow the directions for downloading and planting it in the
windows/system32 directory.
After it finds a list of servers, "export" it to a wsx file that then
you import into winmx. Then try connecting to a whole bunch of them.
About half will connect (turn green). Winmx itself didn't "connect"
like it used to (as seen in the bar at the top of its window, but I was
able to download songs after doing a search for something).
If they manage to disable this program, download this wsx file and try
it http://www.gotnap.com/servers.wsx
