Because if this is the result of a move by the recording and/or movie
industry, there's no reason for them to limit this to WinMX. I assume
they have no personal vendetta against FrontCode. It's peer-share that
they're after.

Wait, are we going on the assumption that this is just a big software
error caused by FC's failure to upgrade?

Actually, I'd see this as working in WinMX's favor. If the industry
can extort thousands from some 12 year old girl, there's no telling how
much they can suck out of the guys who built a file-share program and
are capitalized - although I suspect the words "total assets" or
something like that will come into play. FC, which supposedly lacks
any real assets, may be an easy target, but not a very attractive one,
and WinMX users can end-run the shut-down by simply going Open Nap.
