Well, it worked for me the first time I tried it. It took a while to
connect, but then it often took a while to connect before they shut
down their peer cache too, so that's nothing new.
Once connected, I was able to find lots of files and download them
easily. Curiously, I seem to be getting a lot less "connection
refused" messages than I got before. I don't know if this is a
coincidence or not.
Plus, as I said in another post, OpenNap also seems to be working just
fine. I am using Bob's list and the first two servers on that list
always seem to connect right away and they have lots of files.
My problems with OpenNap in the past have involved finding reliable
servers to connect to, but with Bob's list that doesn't seem to be a
problem, so I would recommend that anyone who hasn't downloaded his
list do so.
It looks to me like the reports of the demise of WinMx have been
greatly exaggerated. Of course this may change, but as it stands right
now with these few simple modifications, the client seems to be
working better for me than it has in a long time.
