"Dave D" <dave_d@dave_d.com> pondered, puzzeled, prognosticated
(perhaps even premeditated), and then, in a very wise voice, sed: :
>The claim Morton is making is that broadcasters can disable DVD Recorders
>using flagging, which simply isn't currently technologically possible as
>they are analogue devices at the point of signal input.
i think Morton may be misusing the term DVD Recorders. What i think he
is referreing to is the technology currently available in the USA
known as DVR. At least here in San Diego, it works like this: You rent
a settop converter box which is very similar to the settop converter
you might already need for expanded cable service, except that it also
contains a hard drive for recording. It is virtually the same as TIVO,
except that you rent it directly from your cable company and it
integrates the converter and recorder into one single settop box.
