Hammerer:
Thank you (I guess) for replying. Yes, I am a bit paranoid, and fear of
the lawsuits by RIAA indeed made me stop using Winmx back when it first
started. But now I might be willing to try it again, but probing the
waters with anonymous posting made me feel better at this point. And
I'm sorry if it offended you.
My plan was to put my 20+ Gb of music, collected in the past from my
own collection as well as from Winmx and Napster, on a separate
encrypted hard drive (already done) and then decrypt it when connected
so that sharing could take place. Then re-encrypt the drive when
shutting down.
But my request was just for a few simple guides, like where to get 3.54
beta, now that the sites are shut down. And how to sort through the
somewhat confusing recommendations about host file modifications and/or
patches.
I can do it myself by trial and error and will do so if I decide to
pursue this. Lazy I'm not.
I won't ask for help again.
John
(still anonymous)
