But George - there probably *is* a Universal Constant, which many
authorities (such as Hawking) are convinced will be discovered shortly. He
simply didn't have the facilities, or computers, to find it. And it's
important to note that he thought Alchemy was mumbo-jumbo.
PS
Many people forget that Isaac Newton wasted a decade of his life dabbling in
Alchemy. He was - rightly - embarrassed over that himself.
