Simple? It doesn't look so simple to me.

1. Download the 191 firmware for your region.

2. Find the hex values: "55 53 00 00 00 00 00 RGNCODE 00 00 00 00"

3. Replace it with: "55 53 00 00 00 00 00 RGNCODE-1 00 00 00 01"

I can't find the 191 firmware. The current version is 197.
I downloaded a freeware hex editor and searched on "RGNCODE" but
couldn't find it.

The LVW-5045 is a great buy. I was a little worried about buying one
because I read quite a few reviews that complained about audio sync
problems when recording to the hard drive. I decided to try it anyway
because there isn't any other DVD recorder with the same capabilities
that sells for less than $300. Apparently that audio sync problem has
been solved. I haven't had any problems with it and it is very easy to
use.

It was settled until the DMCA came along.
