The online clock gives the time you have been connected to your 
primary.  When he goes offline or otherwise disappears you have to 
find a new primary and the clock starts again. 
 
If you have the bandwidth, try running as a primary.  That really 
helps searches in several dimensions.   
 
As a secondary you are off on a side-track and only see the world 
through your primary.
