While I have a distinct sense of deja vu all over again with this this
thread, I would have to say it depends on what sort of mood you're
trying to create. If you want to set the stage for seduction (say,
during an intimate, aphrodisiac-themed late night supper), then you
might want to consider some Marvin Gaye (Let's Get It on, Sexual
Healing), some Tina Turner (Private Dancer, What's Love Got To Do With
It), and in the same vein, pretty much anything from the early
catalogue of Sade (Is It A Crime, etc.) Then you have Foreigner (I Want
To Know What Love Is), Rod Stewart (Tonight's The Night, Do Ya Think
I'm Sexy), Bob Dylan (Lay Lady Lay) and other soft rock odes to
pleading. The Stylistics (You Make Me Feel Brand New) can always be
counted on to lay on the sugary sentiment, of of course, Johnny Mathis
(12th Of Never, Chances Are etc.) has never lost his crown as "The King
of Make Out Music." Lou Rawls (You'll Never Find Another Love Like
Mine), and Al Greene (Let's Stay Together) also have solid entries in
the Get Lucky Sweepstakes, as do The Righteous Brothers (Unchained
Melody). There are many more, some of which have already been mentioned
in this thread.
Now, if your intention is to ratchet-up the heat a few notches, then
you might want to check out the soundtrack to Boogie Nights (Vol. 1 and
2) for some sleazy little ditties that will have the object of your
desire on the pole faster than the opening bars of Def Leppard - Pour
Some Sugar On Me. Of course, all of the above is just a smattering of
what's available out there, and without even considering "sexy disco
tracks" (where More More More and That's The Way I Like It, for
example, found themselves very much at home in the bedroom.)
When it's all said and done however, I have to return to The Doors (The
End) as the best slow-build-to-raging-climax song ever... looped if
necessary, or if you're into tantric sex.
As always, the choice of appropriate music is subjective and dependant
on the perceptions of your intended conquest... for all I know, Tuvan
throat-singing music is a major turn-on for some. I once knew a gal for
whom the mournful harmonica stylings of Toots Theilemans could have her
disrobed and prone in record time. Made me want to pick up the harp, it
did.
Perhaps it's best to say that your musical background is only as good
as your accompanying moves. "You cue the tune, you takes your chances."
