the 255Kb upload speed is the best you will really get, that includes the
error correction and ack packets and other overheads that use up your
declared bandwidth, in WINMX that is 32KB/s
4Mb/s download speed is 500KB/s in winmx less some for error correction and
acks
If you set your maximum outgoing in winmx to ~27KB/s
and maximum incoming in winmx to ~400KB/s
you will never timeout your connection waiting for free space to send acks,
and will probably get a higher throughput than with no max or a higher max
setting, and you will not lose functionality for other apps, browsing email
etc
