Hey guys, looks like I am a bit late on this one, but Im French, so ...
Maybe i have a few infos for u.
First, U certainly heard about that, but it looks like we soon wont have
anymore the right to rip anything you own. YOUR DVDs, YOUR CDs, etc. So,
actually, using any software od this kind would be illegal too. So you cant
transfer your CDs to your iPod, using win media player, winamp and iTunes
would be forbidden, etc... For the moment, what was happening, is when you
were buying a blank CD or DVD, that was your right to copy it, and you were
even obliged to pay a tax to the big awful companies to compensate.
DVD decrypting(or playing, as you wish), invented by a french on linux would
become forbidden...
But when you download something on P2P its legal anyway... What is illegal
is to share it. So we all hope our good abroad friends will continue to
share stuff to us so we can survive.... :P
And sharing stuff is good anyway for industry, we i find something i really
like, i just buy it, to thank the authors and have the original CD/box. I
downloaded many things i liked and decided to buy.
You may know too that in france we always had the right to copy stuff for
private use... But the fucking companies with encryption and other shit
forgot our rights, and we never did anything against that. Because we wont
have this right anymore, i propose them to stop using crappy CDs and DVDs
and warranty their stuff, so they replace it when we cant use our right to
play the music we bought because their shit is broken. I will then happily
scratch it everyday... There is no reason why it is always the same who
should pay...
