Hey Doctor Paul,

How are you viewing your TV pictures? Is it off-air analogue via RF?
It sounds very much as though the RF modulator in the Toshiba (if
there is one) is set to a channel which is interfering with the
incoming terrestrial channels.

If at all possible, I suggest you set the Toshiba's RF output channel
to another channel or indeed turn it off if possible. Another solution
would be to get a proper aerial splitter or RF distribution amp and
split the incoming aerial feed two ways - one to your TV and the other
to the Toshiba - thus removing the Toshiba's ability to add its own RF
signal into the mix.

It's possible that it's an earth loop of some kind and you're seeing
the result of circulating currents, so also try disconnecting phono
leads to audio amps etc...
