I've no personal experience of this, but are you using folders to store your
files? Most drives have a limit to the number of files that can be stored at
the highest level, (the root of the drive). If you are saving all your mp3s
as files at the highest level this may be causing problems.
Before sending it back to your shop, you should be able to drag and drop all
the downloaded music back onto your computer hard disk so you can backup all
those albums.
