MP3 -> iTunes problem

Posted by Barry Bean on 09/27/10 11:31

I've purchased several CDs of old radio dramas (The Shadow, Zero Hour,
Flash Gordon, etc.) in MP3 format. When I look at the files in Windows
Explorer or iTunes "add files" dialogue, I see full and complete title info
(i.e. 70903_001_wife of red-haired Man, 70903_002-Wife of red-haired man,
etc.). Unfortunately, when they are added to the library, they end up with
titles like "01", "02", etc.

But the names aren't consistent when added to the library, and aren't all
in sequential order. Given that there are 150-200 files per CD, and that
any given story arc may be between 2 and 10 files/episodes (and there's no
way to know without seeing the proper title), this makes some series
unlistenable.

Is there a way to get iTunes to bring the files in and retain the file name
as song title?
