You mean Apple Lossless I presume. Yes, it's lossless so can be
reconstituted into a full sized AIFF or WAV. iTunes will do it. I
haven't done a listening test but in theory you shouldn't lose quality
in the conversions. Of course lossless formats don't give you anything
like the file size savings associated with AAC/MP3, even at high
bitrates.
