A friend had a Windows 2000 hard drive crash which somehow turned all his
music files into file fragments (CHK files) . He still had all the music on
the iPod but when he connected it up, all the files on the iPod were erased.
I guess the iPod went into paranoid mode and deleted everything thinking he
didn't have a license(??) I dunno. Anyway, I've helped him recover a few
hundred MP4 files which were ripped from CD's but he said he had about $150
in music he bought from iTunes which we couldn't find Is there any hope he
can just download them again - he paid for them after all.
