I have an old Sony MS Walkman who's battery has died. If anyone is trying to
replace the battery themselves information on how to remove the cover will
be
useful.
Replacing the battery will require nibble fingers and Sony don't recommend
you attempt it.
Also it may be worth finding if you can get a replacement before going to
the trouble.
---
At the back of the unit near the top, to the centre (left of reset), is a
small hole which has a rubber cover in it. Remove the rubber cover with a
sharp object.
This will reveal a locking mechanism which holds on the batter cover.
Again using a sharp object - engage it in the hole and slide the lock up.
The battery cover hinges down from top to bottom but is also clipped in at
the sides. Prise the 4 hooked clips from each corner of the cover and swing
it open.
It will only open so far before the lead from the battery stops it.
This fits into a push connector. Just pull the cable to release it.
The battery is a proprietary Sony Li-ion, LIS199, 3.7V, 700mAh.
Good luck on finding a new battery.
I've just bought a Creative Zen Nano,
