It is truly amazing to me what a firmware upgrade can do! I have a new
iRiver T30, which I highly recommended before the latest firmware
became available. Sound quality is by far my number one criteria. In
side by side tests with the same file loaded, I found the iRiver to
have superior sound reproduction as compared to an iPod and a Creative
Zen Nano Plus. That was before firmware 1.60 became available for
certain iRivers. By reputation, the iAudios were the strongest
competition to the iRivers in sound quality. Now the latest iRiver
firmware has made an incredible improvement in sound quality over what
was already a fine sounding unit. I heartly and enthusiastically
believe that the T series and N series iRivers have the best sounding
units out there with the 1.60 firmware a free download. The T series is
a Play For Sure compatible unit.
