Not every music file is an MP3. Your's are not. MP3s don't have DRM. If
you wanted MP3s, you should have gotten MP3s. If you had you wouldn't be
whining about this in an MP3 group.
Installshield update manager is essentially spyware. It will watch for
updates to the crap you installed on your machine. It works in the
background and there's no easy way to uninstall it. This will partially
uninstall it:

might reinstate it. I'd suggest converting your files to MP3s. Burn them to
a disc, if you can, and rip the disc to MP3s. If that won't work get a
program to capture the output of your sound card and rip that. Get rid of as
much of the Wal-mart crud as you can and stay away from the dollar a tune
sites until you can go there without getting an infection.
(Amazing, the music industry figures they can do whatever they want to
people and some guys provide their own lube.)
