Oh yeah, the body continues to twitch, but it "works" in a very limited
fashion. At one time WinMX was my primary downloading application. Those
days are long gone.

And my experience with any p2p application, including WinMX, is
exactly the opposite. With p2p you can spend hours searching for the
rare--if you already know what it is you want--and you'll mostly come up
empty. With usenet I look at what's available and grab what I want. It takes
me minutes and once it's selected it's 99.9999% certain that I'll get it--at
6Mbps. Here's a hint for you: don't limit yourself to one binary group.
There are binary groups for just about any era or genre. Classical Asian
music, for example, is almost unheard of on p2p; I can get it by the bucket
load from usenet. By shifting through usenet I've discovered all sorts of
stuff, whose existance I never would have even imagined from working with a
p2p search screen. They both have their place, but I only use p2p for music
if I want something out of American pop, past or present, that I don't have
and that wasn't posted to usenet in the last two months--in other words:
very rarely. My experience it that the quality of the files I get from
usenet is also generally better.
