IIRC, no duty is payable unless the total value of the shipment exceeds a
couple of hundred pounds. It is VAT only @ 17.5% of the declared value
excluding postage charges, plus 4 Royal Mail service charge.
I've had about a dozen packets worth over 18 in the last few months, and
have been charged VAT for most of them. Ironically, one that got through
without being charged was worth 86 - Mount Pleasant must have been having a
"be kind" day....
