I loathe registering for a site only to get help from them. If there is a
problem, there should be free advice. I will register only as a final, final
resort.

There are no System Restore points that far back. I do not know when the fault
occurred, as I haven't made a disc for a few weeks, and the problem could of
happened any time. There are no Points for this timeframe, sadly.

Sadly I can't. It freezes about 5-13% (random points in this range) during
"Rending". Only the top bar is filling up, the others are all blank. The top bar
is labelled "Rendering". There are no other programs running, and no specific
point, it seems.

I have not tried a VCD, and I do not have a DVD writer to be able to use that
option.

The CPU is usually about 50% or so. the CPU has been in use for about 30mins or
longer at 100% before and since the fault, with no trouble at all.
Hope this helps peg down the answer. I shall try the VCD option soon.
