To be fair, it was more than "forum" talk.
I agree with your sentiments, but even Rodriguez commented during interviews
to promote the current DVD that a bells and whistles release was coming fast
on its heels, as soon as post production was completed.
My view - the general DVD buying people who'd plunge for the first release
of a niche movie like this are unlikely to feel the need to dip again.
Whereas, movie buffs & fans of either Rodriguez or Miller would know about
the 2nd version & therefore wait patiently. And in fairness, the forthcoming
release is an extended version, not just a re-release with extras.
I'm happy to wait for it
