I know you said you didn't want to go xbox but it really is the best way
without a PC.
There are other media players which stream the video from your PC, or you
could get a dvd player with a hard drive which is networked like KISS do.
I personally have 2 xboxes both modded with XBMC on for media and they are
great!
You can pick up an xbox for less than 100 these days and soft mod it for
next to nothing.
If you want you could put in a big hard drive too!
