A wise choice to avoid!

I live about 1Km from the exchange. When it first went live, I would
get an 8mb connection and download speeds (source permitting) pretty
close to maxing out. However, the line wasnt substainable and often
dropped and either connect with a dead line else not connect at all.

Alls well now. The line has been tweaked downwards to 7MB, which I
connect at every time and AFAIK never drop. (Its difficult to know as
I now use an ADSL2 Router, so dont even know if that info is availabe
to view - though line connection speed is!)

On useneserver, they claim they give you all the bandwidth you can
handle. I know thats not true - but in "off peak" times you can see
the graph on their own site that shows bandwidth available and spare
capacity.

For me, I can surf on this machine and the 2 others in constant use in
this room and the 2 kids can be on line playing "flash" games etc and
still get over 400KBps from usenetserver. Im more than content with
that.

The biggest problem now, (believe it or not) is I collect quicker than
I can burn and delete! Lazyness for most to be honest, since it is
quick to D/L I tend not to look that often! (Ive still got about 400GB
to get rid of - if you know what I mean!) Its a tough life! ;-)
