I just got an email off a chap in a Panasonic shop, who said...
I have just spoken to our Panasonic Rep, and he says he says the reason
is to do with the cost of the import tax. Apparently Labour charge more
for importing with a fire-wire socket. We have the same problem with
some of our camcorders having the fire-wire input. If a camcorder has a
dv input it gets classed as a VCR, and this considerably puts the cost
of bringing them in to the UK. I am guessing that other EU Countries
governments do not make this stupid inport tax.
