I had a similar experience with a DVD-r, I kept a load of installation
files on it and had used it a number of times then suddenly none of my
DVD-drives would see it at all and there was no visible damage. I
wondered whether the label on the disc had damaged it somehow. I tried
a load of DVDs that I had copied a year or so before with the same
labels and they were perfectly fine.
I'd like to know what causes this as we have a load of photos backed up
on DVDr that I would hate to lose due to some common fault.
