Try this...
Quit iTunes if it is running
Launch the QuickTime control panel
Select the Audio tab
Enable Safe mode (waveOut only)
Apply/OK
Try iTunes again...
Might work - has fixed audio problems for me with an audio plug-in I
have for iTunes
