Gosh - I hadn't realised that "When Love is Gone" had been cut out of the
original R2 issue! It's my favourite song in the whole movie- Meredith
Braun's voice is just amazing.... I've been hunting for my copy and I
wonder now whether the reason I can't find it is that I didn't buy it! I
have the US laserdisc, so maybe I put the DVD into the "must get some time"
category, and then forgot it....
Looking at some of the customer reviews on Amazon, it looks as though When
Love is Gone was only inserted into pan & scan home video, but not into
widescreen prints. So the Americans got the whole thing, but P&S, while we
got the cut theatrical version, in widescreen.
As you say, we'll have to wait and see. I'm optimistic, because it claims to
be restored and remastered and I really can't believe that they'd go to the
trouble of doing that without giving us longest version available.
