Since the Yanks have the earliest releases of Hollywood features and
complete TV series on DVD as opposed to half-sets (LOST being the
latest example) they have little incentive to go for multi-region.
Likewise the US TV market is so huge many manufacturers do not bother
with multi-standard TVs like we have, but stick to NTSC vanilla.
Some US residents might buy TVs from abroad and they would probably be
able to show multiple format. Some might even have DVD players
sourced from abroad that are potentially multiregion, but since the
demand for hacks isn't there, don't know what their machine is capable
of or how to de-region it.
