i have searched this group but the threads here are too specialist for
me, so let me ask:
1. i am thinking of purchasing a divx player (actually a recorder, but
that doesnt matter, does it?). So far i have been playing my divx films
on my PC and sometimes, especially with newly ripped films, i had to
download a new divx codec. I dont know what your experience is, but I
would say, that every two or three months i need a new codec. Does this
mean that my divx player would be able to play films that have been
coded until now but it will not be able to play those that WILL be
ripped using future codecs. If so, is there an option of a firmware or
something.
2. is there a way to bypass divx problems by grabbing divx films into a
format that can be handled by DVD players, i.e. is there a way to make a
VCD,SVCD or DVD video disc out of a divx film? Something like grabbing
an audio CD from MP3. If something like this does exist, what about the
picture quality.
3. can i play divx films burned on a DVD disc?
4. Whats your experience with playing MP3s off DVD discs?
thanks for ANY help
Pavel
