Re: Goodmans DVD Recorder

Well I found some answers and I didn't. Just as well I had little
else to do today:

Out of six DVD-RW disks that I possess three are now usable in the
"VHS sense", ie I can record a film from the telly overnight, watch
it, wipe the disk WITH THE GOODMANS without using a PC and re-record
later. Is that rocket science? With this DVD machine it was:

Disk 1: DVD+RW x 4 unbranded. Silver face but nothing on it except
Rewritable, 4.7GB, 4X . If only I remembered where I bought it, rang
all the local shops........this disk worked first time.
Disk 2: Imation DVD-RW works fine but only after erasing the old
contents on a PC
Disk 3: Philips DVD+RW 1-4x speed. This worked too but:
Disks 4 and 5: Same brand and specs as disk 3. Refused to record on the
Goodmans. I copied a film from a PC to both these disks and they played
on the Goodmans. However the Goodmans refuses to erase the disks, hence
it will not record to them. Tried the other tricks, quick erase, full
erase, clean the disks with toothpaste, all the Goodmans tells me is
"Loading" endlessly and refuses to record.
Disk 6: Datasafe DVD+RW 4X. As with 4 and 5.

I should add that none of these disks were brand new, ie all had been
previously used on the PC for data storage or films and then erased if
that is relevant to anyone?
