I remember screening this in a small regional arthouse theatre. I had
experienced 'walkouts' on only four occasions 'Henry, Portrait of a serial
killer' by several people with low fortitude, 'Realm of the Senses' ditto,
'Young Black Soul Rebels (?)' because one of its central black characters
was gay and upset a section of the young black audience, and 'Metropolitan'
because it bored the audience to death. I recall over a dozen people asking
me to unlock the door to let them out as I working front of house. I was
curious as to why so many people were leaving in droves. Among other reasons
cited 'We're going home to watch the fire go out', 'Its like the pretentious
Woody Allen stuff, but without the jokes' Next day I sat in on the afternoon
screening. About an hour in, I left to go and stare out fo the window of my
office. Far more interesting. Pretentious piece of bourgeouois bollocks. Can
only imagine he's one of these 'trust-fund' kids and Daddy bankrolled the
pic. Truly pretentious mind numbingly unwatchable drivel about a group of
characters devoid of a likable or reedeeming feature between them. Total
shite!
