I liked Eternal Sunshine much better than LiT, but it left the wife
utterly cold. Maybe it's blokey-romantic rather than girlie-romantic.
Probably not what the OP is looking for. LiT bored me because it
reminded me so much of wanky vacuous student movies. The women I was
with liked it. Suppose it depends on how 'subtle' you are.
Checking out the Blockbuster top 50 - Hitch is fun. Kingdom of
Heaven, tedious shite, pass. Finding Neverland my wife and kids loved,
the girls go for Johnny Depp with a Scots accent, and as I recall
there's plenty of Kleenex action - the weepy kind, I mean.
Sideways, that's one for LiT fans, but less... pretentious? Wife liked
it and so did I - You honestly didn't know what was gonna happen next.
Funny, romantic, sad, raunchy here and there... that's a good bet.
God there's some much shite in the top 50... National Treasure was a
fun daft romp. Be Cool, ok but not up there with Get Shorty
apparently...
In the new section, Dark Water... ho hum. TV movie and not a very
good one. Madagascar? for kids. Skeleton Key? Haven't seen it, but
great trailer, and the director's a lovely bloke, according to my
wife, who used to work with him. The rest I don't know... except
Yentl. Yentl??? If she wants to watch that, run away now.
Tricky job, not knowing someone's tastes.
