There are a few DVD Players avalable in the UK that have upconverters, they start at around 75 for
an LG DVX9900H.

As far as I know, there is DVD player with HDMI port(and cable) and
from which you can get HQ pictures on your HD TV,
I work for a manufactory of DVD player and as I know the price for
this DVD player(with HDMI)port is about 43USD.
