You just flash the bios I think with a Linux loader. I did mine about
4 months ago - cant remember the full details. But all you need is an
action replay usb flash card, one of 3 XBox games (Splinter Cell was
the one I used) and the freely available software on the net. I can
email you the software - though I would recommend getting it yourself,
purely because you will learn what you need to do that way.
Bascially the software I used was an installer CD which gives you
options to add whatever you want. (eg media centre, mame etc) I know I
still have that (its about 600MB). If you have an FTP, I can up it for
you.
Anoyingly, I lost my action replay flash card, else I could have
loaned you it. (It only cost me a tenner on fleabay - so if you think
about chipping - its much cheaper - and reversible.
Not sure what the situation with Live is - but after the bastards took
a years sub off me after I had cancelled my demo, they can stuff it.
Actually, after I phoned them - they just cancelled my sub (even
though I said I just wanted a refund) and walked away. Thefr is a word
that springs to mind. I was just too lazy to complain to my CC
company, so lost out.
