Peter,
Have you checked the settings menu on the Pioneer ? On my older 656A there is an
audio settings page which allows you to change the "volume" which I think actually
changes the line output levels.
Apart from that, depends on the HiFi.... is it a midi/micro system or a set of
separates ? My Denon AV amp also has DVD input volume settings per channel so I can
adjust each speaker for optimum sound levels...
