What sort of artefacts are these? I have two Panasonic recorders and the
loop-through is perfect. Mine are combined hard drive and DVD recorders,
but I would guess the performance is similar to DVD recorders.
Are you sure you're not describing the appearance of the picture during
recording? For some reason this is composite, even if you are recording
from an RGB source. I've no idea why it has to be like this, but the
simple solution is to press the "play" button because playback is RGB. In
standby, RGB loopthrough should be identical with the direct path.
