You must first of all determine why you cannot record Freeview, since in
principle there should be no problem recording Freeview on a VCR. I have
been doing so since the OnDigital days, and have had no problems then or
since the change to Freeview. If you were to use the same connection
arrangement for a DVD recorder you would probably have the same problem, so
until you can record on the VCR it is unlikely you would be able to record
on a DVD recorder. (I am assuming you are not referring to one of the as yet
very limited number of DVD recorders that has an in-built Freeview receiver)
If the problem is that you are trying to record via the aerial, and not via
a direct SCART connection, it is possible that your Freeview box does not
provide a modulated signal for the VCR (some boxes do, some do not). If that
be the case you need to connect a SCART lead from the Freeview box to a
SCART input socket on the VCR, and select that "line" input when you wish to
make recordings.
