Neither, because they have no neccessity to the average consumer, and it is
the average consumer that determines whether a media format is a success or
failure. The current DVD format will continue for many years, because it
simply is good enough quality at the right pricepoint for the vast majority.
Higher quality audio formats than the CD exist, have they replaced the
Compact Disc?
