I lived for a few years in Galashiels where the original guy 'John' is from.
You'd always hear him before you saw him coming but everyone knew him (quite
a small town) so there was never any taking the piss or anything. He works
at the community centre and my mate, who is a policeman, said they were all
shitting themselves when Prince Charles was coming to visit a couple of
years back. Apparently they sent him for teabags just before he arrived.
Missed opportunity or what eh? I'd have had right at the front first to
shake hands.
