The R2 UK release of Night Watch is due for release in late April. From
what I can make out, Fox over-dubbed the opening and closing battle
scenes in English for the UK cinema release. I dunno if this correct,
only what I've heard. I do know that ~15m has been cut from the UK
release though - something to do with a sub-plot involving a Russian
actor having relevance only to Russian viewers.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew what the R2 UK DVD release will
end-up containing? Will it have the over-dubbed start/finish and the
~15m cut, or will it be the unfettered Russian release?
I didn't see the film when released here, but I do have an R5 copy of
the Russian version. Frankly, and IMHO, over-dubbing the start and end
of the film in English makes a nonsense of the whole thing. As for the
~15m chop, well I didn't notice anything untoward when I watched the DVD.
Anyone got any comments/ideas or is it too early to tell?
