Finding Nemo would have been vastly more exciting had "Colin Mckechnie"

You're a far way off my son, as having a sound card is pointless, as
there is no way of connecting a record player to a PC directly. The
signal from a record player is miniscule, and in need of amplification.
So you need to have a amp, with the "tape out" connected to the PC.
Unless you are like my Friend in the states, who went and bought a
Soundcard that did 48K recording, rather than the standard 44.1K that
was standard at the time. But these days, 48K is more popular, but only
needed if you wanted to master your recording as a DVD-A, CD is 44.1K.
Software is easy, but very expensive if you wish to be legal, Sony's
Soundforge (nee Sonic Foundry's) with the noise reduction plug-in, but
to buy all that you are looking at serious dosh! With the noise
reduction plug-in you take a snapshot sample of the groove rumble and
subtract that from the overall track, but this is hit and miss as with
the rotation of the disc the groove rumble can vary. When it come to
clicks, there is nothing better, but more time consuming than actually
using the pencil tool on the waveform signal....You look at a click and
it looks like a mountain amongst some hills, so you take the pen and
draw over the mountain and make it look like a hill, but it takes me
about 2 hours a track.
Basically it is much better if you have the album on an old tape, as the
noise reduction plug-in, does a shit hot job of removing tape hiss, so
you are left with near CD quality.
