I know exactly what you mean, I did some jobs way back with my Amiga video
toaster and with such little effort
had made videos that till this day people are amazed how creative they
looked, and it was so simple, lol
They had amazingly easy to use canned effects but also was simple to add
onto those and get so creative with
such little learning curve. Even with todays NLE's, you just don't see kiki
type effects, with the pre made mattes
in the switcher, the sports effects etc... it was so different and you can
spot an amiga made video instantly if
you've ever owned one. :)
I miss it and still use lightwave but wish NewTek had entered the PC market
on the same level as matrox or Canopus,
with more affordable hardware and software using DV-AVI editing for more
prosumers like me than the uncompressed video and it's higher requirements
than they chose to do.
Remember the original Toaster Promo video, wow, that had me sold
immediately!
$50,000 worth of broadcast equiptment for only around $5,000, wow it was a
bargain then but
in today's PC prices the hobbyist or prosumer doesn't want to no longer
spend $5000 on a video card
that will be replaced in 6 months to a year with new technology, not when an
entire PC is less than $2000.
I wish the toaster ported over to the PC and miniDV (AVI) and DVD format
immediately after the death of the Amiga,
we'd all be still editing on toaster now if they had. That's my opinion. :)
