 I don't remember what it was, but there was something that made
 me think my PVW-2800 was digitally compressing the chroma
 to create the color signal.
 
 The 2 color signals get horizontally compressed, and recorded
 side by side, then expanded back to full frame on output.
 
 I've also found it to be a bit noisy in the chroma channels.
 If you feed color bars through a switcher, pull the fader most of
 the way to the bottom, then through a PVW deck, the output
 will appear very noisy. I've done this test 3 times in different
 environments (one was a Sony trade show booth). I never did
 the test on the 75 or 1800, but I have noticed that saturated color
 got noisy after a few generations on 75s.
