Panasonic DVX100A

Hi all. Can I get some input from folks as to how well the Panasonic
DVX100A is on producing 4:3 aspect footage? I need to produce a TV show
with three cameras and the show format is 4:3. Currently the show is being
produced through the use of Sony Betacam's that are about 12 years old and I
think 330 lines of resolution and we want to know if this DVX100A will
produce footage that is less than, equal too, or better than what we're
getting now on Betacam tape?

We've looked at Sony's FX1 and Z1U and Canon's XL2 and while the Canon has
much better sound it's 1/3" 16:9 ccd's mean that a 4:3 will captured on
something in the neighborhood of 1/4" when the ccd's are limited by the
cameras operation AND we've learned that the FX1 is perhaps the lowest audio
quality of all camcorders in the prosumer line(s). We've also learned that
if one captures in HD or 16:9 and then outputs to 4:3 the result is clip
that is low in color quality, sound, and will look lower than the current
betacam's we have.

Many thanks in advance for your kind consideration and comments in this
matter.
