john, as of this afternoon we've switched gears and unless something changes
by monday morning, we're going to go with the DVC60 because as many have
suggested in here the DVX100A is somewhat unstable in the studio when
panning. now while we won't be doing much panning (not hardly any at all) i
didn't like how it really struggled to hold color adjustment when the f stop
increased in manual and there were actually points where it couldn't find a
stable point for about 3 to 6 seconds. that's too outta there for me.
however, the dvc60 (about a 1000 cheaper) is much more stable, and when in
total manual has a nice DOF and really nice color stability. obviously when
the f stop got too far out AND the shutter was set to the 1000's it went
crazy and really looked cool :o)

in addittion, we're going to get ONE SONY pd150 or 170 for field work
because the 60's are not a comfortable camera to pack around and play or
we'll wait to get enough money for one z1u or wait for the new HD cams
coming out in november from jvc, canon, and panasonic.
