Something doesn't add up here. Sales tax in New York City is 8 1/2%, to go
from $ 74.00 to $ 110.00 is not a difference attributed to sales tax.

I've seen both sides of the spectrum in NYC. I chalk it up to some people
just not being too nice while others are.
