understand that one (family) looking back, i too didn't have the chance to
learn anything other than basic and how to compile it - - moreover, i have
no idea how i managed to get my undergrad and graduate work accomplished - -
other than, my employer actually sent me to school part of the time - -
perhaps because they cost me a bunch of courses when they changed my shift
and i had to withdraw, and back in those days if you missed a class, test,
or deadline, it was TOUGH! you got a "0" or "F" and NO CHANCE for makeup.
if you got sick, changed shift, "you should have considered that before
taking the class" is what i was told. as a result, my employer would let me
take the class on company time and even pay for it if they resulted in my
having to drop a class.
